Men's Golf's Matthew Vital Registers Second-Place Finish at Jefferson Health APGA Classic

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - Temple University rising junior Matthew Vital carded back-to-back rounds of three-under par 67 to finish in second place at the Advocates Professional Golf Association's Jefferson Health Classic on August 4-5. The tournament was held at the 1912 Club, the home course of Temple men's golf.
Vital posted a total of 12 birdies over two days of competition, and was an incredible nine-under par on the front nine for the tournament. Vital's total of 134 was four shots off the pace set by John Baptiste Hakizimana, a Rwanda native who has played professionally since 2008. Four other golfers finished a shot behind Vital at 135, including former LSU All-American Luis Gagne.
Founded in 2010, the APGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring an inclusive future through the game of golf. The 2025 schedule consisted of 18 tournaments at venues across the country, with purses totaling more than $1.5 million.Â
