9.1.25 | Football

Denton, Texas – After his stellar week one performance over UMass, redshirt senior quarterback Evan Simon has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the American Conference.

Simon led the way for the Owls in a resounding 42-10 victory over the Minutemen on the road to give Temple its first week one road win since 2014. Simon completed 19 of 25 passes for 248 yards, while his school-record-tying six touchdowns are the most of any NCAA FBS player thus far in Week 1. His six incomplete passes matched the six touchdown passes thrown to four different receivers.

The Mount Joy, Pa. native orchestrated three of the top five longest drives in the FBS this weekend. Temple's 5-play 99-yard drive in 2:08 was at the top of the list and finished with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Simon to Clarke. Third on the list of longest drives was a 12-play 90-yard drive that lasted 6:18. This drive ended with Clarke pulling in a 21-yard pass from Simon for the score. A 13-play 80-yard drive for the Owls sits fifth on the list and ended with a 3-yard pitch-and-catch from Simon to tight end Ryder Kusch.

Temple will return to Philadelphia on Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 PM when the Howard Bison come to Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard at OwlSports.com/listen. To purchase tickets visit owlstix.com or call the ticket office at 215-204-8499.
