Career Night for Hummel Leads Temple to 3-1 Victory Over FDU

BRONX, N.Y. – Temple women's volleyball (5-3) opened the Rose Hill Classic with a dominant 3-1 victory over FDU (2-6). Olivia Hummel led the Owls with a standout double-double performance, tallying 15 kills and 10 digs while hitting an impressive .433.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 20, FDU 25)
- Mariyana Cardwell opened the match with back-to-back kills to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead.
- FDU responded with a 3-0 run, taking a narrow 10-9 advantage midway through the set.
- Despite trailing by as many as six points, Temple rallied to cut the deficit to just three at 23-20.
- The Knights held off the comeback to take the first set, 25-20.
- The second set remained tight early, with both teams trading points and keeping the score within three.
- A late surge by Temple, including kills from Cardwell, Hummel, and Taylor Harper, pushed the lead to 21-17.
- Hummel then sealed the set with three consecutive service aces, giving Temple a 25-17 win and tying the match at 1-1.
- The Owls opened the third set on fire with a 4-0 run behind two kills apiece from Hummel and Harper.
- Christiana Greene and Alyssa Finister added key kills as Temple extended its lead to 13-4.
- Temple maintained control, hitting .367 in the set and cruising to another 25-17 victory.
- Temple dominated the fourth and final set with a 7-0 run, as both Hummel (12) and Harper (10) reached double-digit kills, pushing the Owls to an 11-4 lead.
- Strong net defense, highlighted by blocks from Cardwell and Finister, stretched Temple's advantage to 13-5.
- The Owls never looked back, closing out the set 25-12 to take the match 3-1.
- Olivia Hummel recorded a career-high four service aces, 15 kills, and matched her career-best with 10 digs.
- Temple finished with a season-high six team aces.
- The Owls hit .367 in the third set and .293 overall for the match.
