Temple to Face No. 18 Georgia Tech on the Road
9.15.25 | Football
ATLANTA – Temple will travel to the Peach State on Saturday, September 20 for a match up with the No. 18 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is set for 4:30 PM and the game will be broadcast on The CW and can be heard on OwlSports.com/listen.

LAST TIME OUT
Temple comes into week four after suffering its first loss of the 2025 season at the hands of the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners. The Owls struggled to get anything going on offense against a highly touted Sooner defense. On defense, the Owls were able to make plays throughout the game to stifle the Oklahoma offense at times. OU was backed up in their own territory and Temple snagged the first turnover of the game. Linebacker Ty Davis ripped the ball away from the wide receiver and came away with the turnover for Temple. Davis recorded his only interception as a member of the Owls, with his previous seasons being played at Delaware.

Going up against a Heisman-level quarterback in John Mateer, the Owls had individual performances against Oklahoma on defense that stood out in a big way. Senior defender Sekou Kromah set a career-high at the Division I level in tackles for loss. The Single-Digit wearer recorded 2.5 tackles for loss in the week three contest. Cam'Ron Stewart and Kromah started strong coming out of the halftime in the third quarter for Temple. The duo combined to stop the Mateer-led Sooners' offense on third down, forcing an early punt from OU. This was a run-stuffing quarterback run with a lot of traffic around the line of scrimmage, but the pair navigated it well to bring down the ball carrier. The next defensive drive was highlighted by Kromah and Ben Osueke. The two joined together to force Mateer out of bounds on a third-and-ten, forcing the Sooner's punt team to enter the game. Another highlight play from Temple's defense was by linebacker Charles Calhoun. Calhoun recorded his first career sack at the Division I level by sacking a high-level SEC quarterback in Mateer. Calhoun previously played at Division II Gannon.

GEORGIA TECH IN 2025
No. 18 Georgia Tech enters week four fresh off its biggest win of the season thus far. The Yellow Jackets secured a win over No. 12 Clemson in thrilling fashion. Georgia Tech was able to stimey a tough Clemson quarterback in Cade Klubnik, enough so to have the opportunity for a walk-off field goal to end the game. From 55-yards out, Aidan Birr knocked the ball through the uprights to give the Jackets the win. That kick tied a school-record in distance for field goals. This win brings Georgia Tech to 3-0 this season, the first time the program has had that record to start the season since the 2016 season. Under head coach Brent Key, Georgia Tech is now 7-1 against ranked ACC opponents.

To start the season the Ramblin' Wreck went on the road and topped the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes. A come-from-behind win against the Buffs was led by quarterback Haynes King. His 45-yard touchdown run sealed the win with 1:07 remaining in the game. Georgia Tech returned home week two for a meeting with Gardner-Webb. The Yellow Jackets walked out of the game with a resounding 59-12 victory.

SERIES HISTORY
These two schools have a limited history. The first and only time the Owls and Yellow Jackets squared off was back in the 2019 season. The game took place in Philadelphia and Temple came out on top with a 24-2 victory over Georgia Tech.

UP NEXT
The Owls will be on the first of two scheduled bye weeks this upcoming Saturday. Temple will return to action in week six of the season when American Conference play kicks off as the UTSA Roadrunners come to Philadelphia on Saturday, October 4.
