Women’s Rowing Announces 2025-26 Captains

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's rowing head coach Rebecca Grzybowski announced Monday afternoon that seniors Eve Keesecker and Samantha Schuberth will serve as captains for the 2025-26 season.
"The power in Samantha and Eve's leadership is how they complement each other and still deliver to the needs and goals of the team. Samantha brings the calm confidence of an experienced racer having spent the last few seasons in the Varsity 8+ and an urgency in her final year of rowing, while Eve leads with passion and understanding, as she began her career as a novice rower and evolved into a varsity coxswain," said Grzybowski.
Schuberth and Keesecker each had prominent roles on varsity boats throughout the 2025 spring season. Each competed in all six races that the varsity boats took part in with Schuberth sitting in the sixth spot on the varsity eight boat and Keesecker sitting as the coxswain on the varsity four boat.
For Schuberth her season was highlighted with a bronze medal while competing at the Ford Lake Cup in Michigan. The V8 boat secured third place among other MAC schools in 6:45.20. Keesecker's V4 boat had a strong performance to kick off the spring season at the Doc Hosea Invitational. The boat secured fourth place in 8:14.175.
Grzybowski continued about the captains, "Together, they embody what our team is about: grit, growth, and belief in one another. I know they are the right people to lead this team as we chase an inaugural Mid-American Conference Championship."
The Owls will begin the 2025 fall season on Saturday, October 4 when the team hosts the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on the Schuylkill River.
