Temple Drops Road Match to Monmouth in 2–0 Decision

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Temple men's soccer team fell to the Monmouth Hawks on the road Friday evening by a score of 2-0. Temple will close its two-game road trip next week against conference foe Florida International.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks made their presence felt early, scoring two goals within the first 11 minutes.
- Temple would counterattack with three corner opportunities and shots by Charlie Votel, Teo Strand, Anthony Perez, and Nathan Brown before the halftime break.
- The Owls would continue to search for scoring chances for the remainder of the match, outshooting the Hawks 11-5 in the final frame, but Temple couldn't pull through as the match ended in a 2-0 Monmouth win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Luka Lukic led the way with three shots for Temple. He was joined by Lukas Egarter and Brown with multiple shot attempts.
- The Owls recorded 17 shots, which marks a season high.
- Preston Neal started in goal, hauling in five saves. This was Neal's first start since Temple's match against Ohio State (Aug. 31).
UP NEXT
The Owls will next continue their two-match road trip, heading south to face Florida International for an in-conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 3. The action from Miami is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
