Emmerich, Pisarski Under Par After Day One of Ironwood Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Senior Aidan Emmerich and freshman Nicholas Pisarski each shot under-par rounds of 71 to lead the Temple golf team on the opening day of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Sunday. The Owls as a team shot one-over par 298 and stand just six strokes outside of second place heading into the final day on Monday.

- Emmerich got off to a hot start, birdieing three of his first four holes on the day to move to three-under par.
- The Massachusetts native closed his first 18 holes with five birdies to tie for ninth individually in the field.
- Pisarski did his teammate one better, finishing with six birdies which was good for second place among all players.
- The freshman recorded the first sub-par round of his collegiate career and had a run of four straight birdies from holes 13 to 16.
- Senior Jake Naese finished at one-over par 73 while sophomore William Jun closed at two-over par 74 to round out the scorers for the Owls.
- East Carolina leads the tournament by seven strokes after an opening-round 276, which included four rounds at two-under par or better.
- Longwood's David Lafreniere paces the individual title chase at six-under par through 18.
- The Owls will play 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 29, with all teams scheduled to tee off at 8:45 a.m. ET.
