Temple Shows Fight in Tight Sets Against Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – Temple volleyball (11-5, 1-1 American) fell to Tulane (8-4, 1-1 American) in straight sets Sunday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse. Olivia Hummel paced the Owls with 16 kills while hitting .289.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 23, Tulane 25)
Temple opened the frame with a 5-0 run, fueled by kills from Leia Harper and Alyssa Finister, along with an ace from Qairo Bentley to take a 5-1 lead.
Tulane responded with a 3-0 spurt, capped by a Daniella Gonzalez Murati kill to knot the set at 17-17. The Green Wave held on for a narrow 25-23 win.
Christiana Greene led the Owls with five kills on a .714 hitting percentage, while Hummel, Harper, and Finister each added three kills.
SET 2 (Temple 19, Tulane 25)
Set two featured nine ties and four lead changes before the media timeout, with back-to-back aces from Hummel giving Temple a 15-14 edge.
Tulane countered with a decisive 7-1 run to close out the set, 25-19.
SET 3 (Temple 23, Tulane 25)
Temple fought to stay alive in the third, as Finister and Gonzalez Murati recorded consecutive kills to cut Tulane's lead to 10-7.
Despite a late push, the Owls dropped the set 25-23.
