NEW ORLEANS, La – The Temple women's basketball team (10-11, 4-5 American) pulled out an overtime thriller on Saturday evening, defeating the Tulane Green Wave (8-12, 3-5 American), 67-65, in New Orleans. Kaylah Turner led the Owls with 27 points, shooting 10-for-17 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. With her second-quarter three-pointer, Turner eclipsed 1,000 points for her collegiate career.

How It Happened
First Quarter

Tristen Taylor delivered a fantastic pass to Kaylah Turner to put the Owls on the board first.
Taylor followed with a driving layup to make it 6-2 Temple with 7:31 remaining.
Jaleesa Molina converted an and-one to give the Owls a 9-2 advantage.
Tulane committed four turnovers over a two-minute span.
Both teams hit a lull, as neither scored for more than two minutes.
Amira Mabry finished a tough layup and converted the free throw to cut the deficit to 11-4.
Tulane closed the quarter on a 6-0 run while Temple went 0-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-8 over its final eight shots.
Temple led 13-11 at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter

Taylor knocked down a three to extend Temple's lead to 16-12 with 7:00 left in the half.
Ariana Meriedy followed with a three-pointer of her own, making it 19-14.
After back-to-back baskets, Tulane pulled within one, 19-18.
Turner called for the ball and drilled a three-pointer for her ninth point of the game, marking the 1,000th of her collegiate career.
The Owls went on a 7-0 run over a 2:36 span, making five of their last seven field goals.
Tulane endured a scoring drought of over four minutes until Mabry hit a three, cutting the deficit to 26-21.
Temple committed seven turnovers over a 5:56 stretch and went scoreless for more than two minutes.
The Green Wave closed the half on a 7-0 run, but Temple held a 26-25 lead at halftime.

Third Quarter

Turner opened the second half with back-to-back baskets to give Temple a 30-27 lead.
Mabry hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 30 with 7:47 remaining.
Temple went scoreless for more than 2:30 while committing three turnovers.
Out of the media timeout, Dyllan Hanna scored a layup to give Tulane its first lead of the game, 34-32.
Curry and Turner responded with back-to-back threes to regain the lead for Temple, 39-37, with 2:48 left.
The teams traded baskets to close the quarter, with the Owls leading 44-43.

Fourth Quarter

Taylor found Saniyah Craig on a perfectly executed inbounds play for a layup, extending Temple's lead to 48-43.
Mabry answered with a three-pointer to pull Tulane within two, 48-46.
Both teams went on a scoring drought of more than 2:30, during which Temple missed five straight shots and committed three turnovers.
Turner knocked down her third three-pointer of the night to make it 51-48.
The teams continued to trade baskets, resulting in a 55-54 Temple lead with just over one minute remaining.
Craig scored on a layup just before the shot clock expired to give the Owls a three-point cushion, 57-54, with 12 seconds left.
Kanija Daniel hit a game-tying three with three seconds remaining.
The score remained tied at 57 after regulation, forcing the game into overtime.

Overtime

Tulane opened overtime with back-to-back baskets to take a 61-57 lead.
Craig answered with a three-pointer to bring Temple within one, 61-60, with 3:30 remaining.
Temple converted four straight free throws on two trips to the line to go ahead, 64-63.
Turner tied the game at 65 with a free throw with 11 seconds remaining.
Turner then threw a long outlet pass to Molina, who finished the fastbreak layup to give Temple a 67-65 lead with five seconds left.
Tulane's final shot attempt fell short, sealing the Owls' overtime victory.

Turner finished with a game-high 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting.
Saniyah Craig recorded 16 points and eight rebounds.
Temple totaled seven steals in the first half, while Tulane had five.
Tulane shot 1-for-10 from three-point range in the first half, while Temple connected on 3-of-7.
The Green Wave finished 4-for-21 (19%) from beyond the arc; Temple shot 7-for-20 (35%).
Temple shot 43.8% (7-for-16) in the third quarter.
