STORRS, Conn. - The Temple University field hockey team fell to No. 4 UConn, 4-0, in BIG EAST action Friday afternoon at Nancy Stevens Field.

Temple moves to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in BIG EAST play, while UConn improves to 10-1 and 4-0 in conference action.

How It Happened

UConn opened the scoring at the 5:47 mark when Emma Larit found the back of the cage on an unassisted goal to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Temple responded with its best offensive stretch of the afternoon late in the opening quarter. Logan put a pair of shots on goal, Mina Uezbe had an attempt blocked and Rozlyn Maciejewski sent a shot wide as the Owls generated five first-quarter shots and earned a penalty corner. UConn goalkeeper Natalie McKenna made two saves to preserve the 1-0 advantage.

The Huskies doubled their lead at 21:49 following back-to-back penalty corners. UConn worked the ball to Olivia McKenna at the top of the circle, where she drove the ensuing shot through traffic and into the cage. Charlotte Ritter and Lucy Zich were credited with assists on the goal.

UConn struck again less than a minute into the second half. Off another penalty corner, Zich received the ball at the top of the circle and fired a shot into the cage to extend the Huskies' lead to 3-0. Milou Heuker and Ritter earned assists on the play.

The Huskies added their final goal just 25 seconds into the fourth quarter. Paige Keller carried the ball down the right side of the circle, worked toward the end line and finished from close range to make it 4-0.

Jitta entered in cage at the 47:51 mark and stopped both shots on goal she faced, making saves on Fien Hollander and AJ Eyre as Temple held UConn scoreless over the final 14:35.
