Owls Open Split Week at Home Before Heading to D.C.

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's lacrosse will face a split week, beginning with a home matchup against St. Joseph's on Wednesday at 3 p.m., before traveling to Washington, D.C., to take on American University on Saturday at 2 p.m.

OWLS IN THE NEST
  • The Owls are coming off a comeback victory over Delaware, scoring six of their 12 goals in the fourth quarter of the season opener.
  • Captain Sabrina Martin led Temple to a 12–10 come-from-behind win, recording four goals, four ground balls, six caused turnovers, and two draw controls. Martin is currently tied for first in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (6.0).
  • Freshman Brooke Mazzei gave Temple its first lead of the game with an unassisted goal in the fourth quarter. She also added three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control.
  • Senior goalkeeper Riley Horoshko entered the game with Temple trailing 8–3 and helped fuel the rally, allowing just two goals while making six saves in 28 minutes of action.
SCOUTING ST. JOSEPH'S
  • St. Joseph's is coming off an 11–10 victory over Lehigh, led by junior Megan Sanelli, who tallied four goals and one draw control.
  • Kate Fuhrman added three goals, one assist, and one caused turnover, while Elizabeth McGurk led the team in draw controls with six and collected two ground balls.
  • Temple holds a 14–6 all-time series advantage over St. Joseph's.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
  • American enters the weekend following a 14–3 loss to Georgetown. Kellie Linehan scored twice for the Eagles, while Julia Pope added one goal.
  • Saturday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between Temple and American.
UP NEXT
Temple will face another split week, traveling to Rider on Wednesday before returning home to host UMass Lowell on Saturday.
