Career Day From Culp Powers Temple to Win Over St. Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's lacrosse (2–0) earned a 12–9 victory over St. Joseph's (1–1) Wednesday afternoon at Howarth Field. Lexi Culp led the Owls with a career-high four goals, while seven different Temple players scored in the team's second win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Temple struck first, scoring five goals in the opening quarter. Culp recorded a hat trick in the period, while Brooke Mazzei and Sabrina Martin each added a goal to give the Owls a 5–0 lead.
St. Joseph answered in the second quarter with three goals, one each from Alexa Capozzoli, Devon Maillet, and Machaela Henry, to cut the deficit to 5–3 at halftime. Goalkeeper Riley Horoshko faced 12 shots in the first half, making nine saves and posting a .750 save percentage to help maintain Temple's lead.
The Hawks opened the third quarter with a goal just 30 seconds in, as Megan Sanelli trimmed the lead to 5–4. Jenna Facciolli responded to push the advantage back to two, 6–4. The teams continued to trade goals, with Temple holding an 8–7 edge at the end of the third quarter.
St. Joseph's tied the game for the first time early in the fourth quarter on a goal by Kate Fuhrman. Amelia Wright quickly answered to restore Temple's lead, 9–8. The Owls then pulled away with three consecutive goals from Wright, Martin, and Laura Conner to secure the 12–9 victory.

Temple continues its split week, traveling to Rider on Wednesday before returning home to host UMass Lowell on Saturday.
