Temple Welcomes USF for Conference Opener

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's lacrosse will open conference play at home as the Owls host South Florida on Saturday, March 14. First draw is set for noon at Howarth Field as Temple celebrates its commitment to the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

OWLS IN THE NEST
Last time out, Temple fell to Rutgers 17–16 in a back-and-forth battle. Freshman Brooke Mazzei recorded her first career hat trick and finished with a career-high four goals while also leading the team with eight ground balls.

Kaitlyn Stankavage had a strong week for the Owls, recording seven draw controls, four ground balls, and five caused turnovers across two games. She matched her season high with four draw controls against Towson before posting five caused turnovers and four ground balls against Rutgers.

Sarah Gowman totaled eight points in the pair of contests, recording a hat trick in both games while adding two assists, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

Temple ranks 29th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 8.89 goals per game, and has held seven of its nine opponents to 10 goals or fewer this season. Lexi Culp ranks 20th nationally in points and sits second in the conference in points per game. Amelia Wright also ranks near the top of the conference, sitting second while ranking 20th nationally with 26 goals this season.

SCOUTING USF
South Florida is coming off a 19–8 loss to No. 5 Navy. Ava Uphues leads the Bulls in scoring with 19 goals and also leads the conference in shot percentage. She is joined by two other USF players who have reached double-digit goals through six games. Kali Cleary leads the team in draw controls with 42, averaging seven draw controls per game.

South Florida leads the all-time series 1–0 after winning the first meeting between the programs during the 2025 season.

The Owls will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, to face ECU on Saturday, March 21. First draw is scheduled for 11 a.m.
