PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's lacrosse (8–2, 0–1 American) battled South Florida (6–2, 1–0 American) but fell 11–10 Saturday morning at Howarth Field. Amelia Wright, Sabrina Martin, and Kali Saito each scored two goals to lead the Owls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
South Florida struck first in transition as Ava Uphues found the back of the net, followed by a goal from Sofia Chepenik to give the Bulls an early 2–0 lead with just under ten minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Amelia Wright put Temple on the board shortly after, cutting the deficit to one.

Wright opened the second quarter with her second goal of the game to tie the score at 2–2, but Chepenik responded to restore the Bulls' one-goal lead. Lily Caravela and Kali Saito then scored back-to-back goals to give Temple its first lead of the game, 4–3. Saito added a free-position goal late in the half to send the Owls into the break with a 5–4 advantage.

Brooke Mazzei extended Temple's lead just 30 seconds into the third quarter to make it 6–4. Bailey Morris answered for the Bulls before Sarah Gowman responded for the Owls to push the lead back to two, 7–5. Freshman Merris Kessler later recorded her first career goal, giving Temple its largest lead of the game at 8–5. South Florida began its comeback late in the third quarter as Maggie Newton scored two consecutive goals to cut the deficit to 8–7 entering the fourth.

Sabrina Martin opened the final frame with an unassisted goal to extend Temple's lead to 9–7. Kalina Johnson answered with back-to-back goals for the Bulls to even the score at 9–9. Martin responded with her second goal of the game to put the Owls back in front, 10–9, but USF's Grissett scored two late goals to give the Bulls an 11–10 lead they would hold for the win.
