PRINCETON, N.J. - Sophomore Mason Tomé sits in second place individually following a first-round, three-under par 68, and senior Aidan Emmerich is in fifth place and matched his teammate with a second-round 68 for the Temple men's golf team on the opening day of the Princeton Invitational.

As a team, the Owls did stand in a tie for fourth place with Seton Hall, in front of Penn, Dartmouth, Saint Joseph's and Yale. However, due to a scorecard error, the team fell to a tie for 10th heading into the final round.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tomé put together an impressive first 18 holes of his tournament, totaling six birdies and three bogeys en route to a tie for second after round one.
The Florida native carded a three-under 33 on the course's back nine, which represented the opening nine for him after starting on the par-4 10th with a birdie.
Tomé followed that up with a two-over par 73 in round two, as he continued to show his scoring ability with five birdies.
All told, Tomé leads all golfers with 11 birdies over the first 36 holes, with his teammate Emmerich standing in a tie for fourth with eight.
Emmerich posted a four-over round of 75 in round one, but got hot over the final 11 holes of his second round.
The Massachusetts product went birdie-birdie to close out his first nine holes of the second round, then posted a three-under 32 over his final nine to compile a three-under par score of 68.
