Women’s Rowing Finishes 2026 Knecht Cup with Two Boats on the Podium

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The Temple Owls had an incredibly successful weekend on the water with two boats finishing on the podium. The Second Varsity Four (A) boat took the gold medal in the grand final while the second varsity eight took silver in the grand final.
Temple's 2V4 (A) boat had an outstanding Sunday and took the top position in the grand final of its series this weekend. The Owls, coxswained by sophomore Laney Borg, outraced the University of Wisconsin by just under five seconds. Temple also finished above fellow MAC school UMass by over seven seconds.
The 2V8 finished on the podium in second place in the grand finale. The Owls, coxswained by sophomore Sofia Henningsen, finished just 0.03 seconds behind the first place Boston University Terriers. With this time, the 2V8 put up its second-fastest time of the 2026 season. Among all of the fellow MAC schools competing in this week's Knecht Cup, Temple's finish in the 2V8 grand final was the closest margin between a first and second place boat.

The Owls will be off next weekend but will be back on the Schuylkill River on Saturday, April 25 when the team takes part in the Kelly Cup hosted by the Drexel Dragons.
