Women’s Rowing Stays on the Schuylkill for the 2026 Kelly Cup

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's rowing is set to compete at the 2026 Kelly Cup on Saturday, April 25. The event is hosted by the Drexel Dragons on the Schuylkill River with Temple, La Salle, Saint Joseph's, and Jefferson being the opposing schools.
This will be Temple's final race this season on the Schuylkill and the team will be honoring it's nine seniors on this year's roster. Emma Inglis, Eve Keesecker, Hannah Klein, Layne Laryea, Sophia Manning, Grace McGarry, Amanda Morelli, Samantha Schuberth will be honored in a post-race ceremony at the Temple Boathouse on Kelly Drive.
Last Time Out
The last time out the Owls found success on the Cooper River at the 2026 Knecht Cup. Temple's 2V4 (A) boat had an outstanding day on Sunday and took the tip spot in the grand final of its series. The Owls, coxswained by Laney Borg, outraced the University of Wisconsin by just under five seconds. Temple also finished above fellow MAC school UMass by over seven seconds.
The 2V8 finished on the podium in second place in the grand final. The Owls, coxswained by sophomore Sofia Henningsen, finished just 0.03 seconds behind the first place Boston University Terriers. With this time, the 2V8 put up its second-fastest time of the 2026 season. Among all of the fellow MAC schools competing in the Knecht Cup, Temple's finish in the 2V8 grand final was the closest margin between a first and second place boat.

The Owls will compete next week on Sunday, May 3 at the 2026 Women's Sprints in Worcester, Mass. Temple is among 17 other colleges competing in the Women's Sprints which includes fellow MAC school UMass. The event it hosted by the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA). Full lineups and race times will be announced later next week.
