Women’s Rowing Secures 2026 Kelly Cup

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's rowing won the 2026 Kelly Cup for the first time since the 2024 season in resounding fashion. The Owls earned three first place finishes on the day to secure the cup.
The day began with the Varsity Eight, coxswained by Sofia Henningsen, swiftly crossing the finish line in first place. The Owls timed out at 6:39.10, for their third-fastest time of the spring season. Temple secured the Kelly Cup by 5.5 seconds, ahead of the second place Saint Joseph's Hawks.
The Second Varsity Eight continued the early success the V8 had by also taking first place in its respective race. Winning by just 1.2 seconds, coxswain Eve Keesecker and the Owls crossed the finish line in 6:54.00. The Drexel Dragons were close behind, but could not close the gap at the finish.
The Second Varsity Four rounded out the first place finishes for Temple on the day. Laney Borg coxswained the four to a first place finish over the La Salle Explorers. The Owls finished in a time of 7:51.60, 12.2 seconds faster than La Salle.

The Owls will compete next week on Sunday, May 3 at the 2026 Women's Sprints in Worcester, Mass. Temple is among 17 other colleges competing in the Women's Sprints which includes fellow MAC school UMass. The event it hosted by the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA). Full lineups and race times will be announced later next week.
