Men's Crew Travels to California for IRA National Championships This Weekend

LAKE NATOMA, Calif. - For the second consecutive season, the Temple University men's crew team will have multiple boats competing with the top programs in the country at IRA National Championships. Racing will commence on Friday, May 29, as the first and second varsity eight boats will enter qualifying heats beginning at 11:16 a.m. ET. Semifinal and final racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

ABOUT THE OWLS

Temple earned a bid for its two top boats by virtue of a second-place finish in the varsity eight at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on May 9.
The Owls; top boat earned silver and closed out the season ranked 17th in the IRCA/IRA National Top 25 poll.
The second varsity also picked up a second-place showing at Dad Vail Regatta and come in at 18th in the latest national poll that was released on May 22.
The V8 drew lane 5 for its opening heat and will be matched with No. 1 Washington, No. 8 Penn, No. 9 Brown, No. 16 Drexel, and Oregon State.
The top three boats will move to the A/B semifinals, with the next three boats shifting into the C/D semis.
The 2V8 will also row out of lane 5 for its preliminary heat, and will have No. 2 Princeton, No. 7 Brown, No. 10 Cornell, No. 15 Wisconsin, and UC San Diego in its race.
