Men's Crew Preps for Dad Vail Regatta on Cooper River Beginning Friday

COOPER RIVER, N.J. - The Temple University men's crew team heads to the Cooper River for the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta this weekend. Racing begins Friday morning with time trials, with the semifinal round taking place in the afternoon leading into Championship Saturday.

ABOUT THE OWLS

The men's varsity eight held steady at No. 16 in the latest IRA/IRCA National Top 25 poll, after taking last weekend off from competition.
The week earlier, the V8 defeated nationally-ranked city rivals Drexel, La Salle, and Saint Joseph's to capture its second straight Bergen Cup.
Coming in at No. 21 nationally is the second varsity eight, while the third varsity eight is ranked No. 22 in the country.
At last year's Dad Vail Regatta, three boats - including the varsity eight, the second varsity eight, and the freshman/novice eight - captured gold medals.
Prior to the start of racing this weekend, head coach Brendan Cunningham captured 2026 Matt Ledwith Dad Vail Regatta Coach of the Year honors.
The award is named after Matt Ledwith, a pillar of the Philadelphia rowing community and a long-standing member of the Dad Vail Regatta Organizing Committee.
For the first time in regatta history, the top four men's varsity eight teams in the race for the Hannah-O'Brien Trophy will earn automatic bids to IRA National Championships, which are being held in Sacramento, Calif., on May 29-31
