Temple Qualifies Six Boats for Grand Finals at Dad Vail Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Temple University men's crew team saw six of its boats advance to grand finals after the first day of the 2026 Dad Vail Regatta on Friday. The 16th-ranked varsity eight led the way for the Owls, finishing with the fastest morning time trial before winning its semifinal heat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After winning the Hanna-O'Brien Trophy a year ago, the varsity eight began its defense of the title with a quick time trial of 5:22.729.
- The time was the fastest of the 19 boats competing in the top men's crew event.
- The second varsity eight posted the second-fastest time out of 15 competitors, crossing in 5:32.153.
- Another crew, the frosh/novice four, clocked a time of 6:35.215 which was good for second out of nine boats in its class.
- The semifinal round began with a dominant win for the frosh/novice four, as it defeated second-place Rollins by over 13 seconds to advance to the grand final.
- The 2x pair of Andrew Farkas and Joe Sayer took second in its semifinal while earning a spot in the grand final.
- The top two varsity eight boats each won their semifinal races, with the second varsity defeating La Salle by nearly five seconds and the top varsity boat defeating MIT by nearly three seconds.
- The third varsity eight took third in its semi, as did the varsity four, with each earning a grand final appearance.
