PHILADELPHIA - Temple University field hockey head coach Michelle Vittese announced the hiring of Julie Rodijk as an assistant coach on Monday.

Rodijk spent the past season as an assistant coach at Syracuse, helping guide the Orange to a 13-7 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals after a 3-2 shootout win over No. 6 Liberty in the NCAA first round.

"From the moment I met Julie, it was clear that she is someone who brings tremendous passion, energy and purpose to coaching," Vittese said. "She is incredibly detail-oriented, highly competitive and deeply invested in the development of her student-athletes. What stood out most during the hiring process was her ambition, her ability to communicate and connect with people, and her genuine desire to be part of a program where she could leave a lasting impact. Julie's values align perfectly with what we are building, and I am thrilled to welcome her to our staff. I have no doubt she will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our student-athletes and within our program."

Prior to Syracuse, Rodijk coached at FDU-Florham in New Jersey. She also coached youth club teams, working with players ranging from age 5 through high school beginning in August 2019.

Rodijk worked with Plus 31 Sports as a recruiting specialist, helping international student-athletes pursue opportunities to compete in college field hockey in the United States.

During her collegiate career at UAlbany and Ohio State, Rodijk started all 86 games for the Great Danes and Buckeyes. She totaled 47 points on 22 goals and five assists.

At Ohio State, she registered 10 goals and two assists for the Buckeyes, including a goal against Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament. She earned NFHCA All-Region honors in every collegiate season, along with All-Big Ten Second Team recognition and Academic All-Big Ten accolades.

At UAlbany, Rodijk totaled 12 goals and three assists, earning NFHCA All-Region honors every season, a selection to the NFHCA Division I Senior Game and America East All-Conference honors in all four seasons.

"I am excited to be joining Michelle Vittese and her staff at Temple," Rodijk said. "Coach Vittese's experience as both a player and coach speaks volumes about her leadership, and I am eager to contribute to the program's continued success. She has done a phenomenal job elevating the program, and I look forward to bringing my passion for field hockey and coaching to the team as we compete in the BIG EAST Conference."

Additionally, Rodijk runs her own coaching platform, JR Field Hockey, which focuses on giving young athletes opportunities to learn from and work with elite-level players. She has organized clinics with U.S. Women's National Team members Phia Gladieux and Ryleigh Heck, as well as former national team member Cassie Sumfest.

A native of the Netherlands, Rodijk was a member of the Huizer Hockey Club and consistently played on the top team. She was selected to the Dutch National U16 Training Group in 2017-18.

Rodijk earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University at Albany, State University of New York, with a concentration in marketing and entrepreneurship and a minor in communications. She earned her Master of Kinesiology from The Ohio State University with a focus in sport management.
