PHILADELPHIA, PA- Temple women's volleyball team (1-0) starts off the season with strong statement win against Manhattan (0-1), (25-18, 25-20, 25-22) during the first day of the Cherry and White invitational at McGonigle Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Junior Khenedi Guest led the team in kills with 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1 (Temple, Manhattan)

The first set was highlighted with the offensive performance of Senior Olivia Hummel who started off the scoring for the Owls.
The game saw back and forth action till the Owls pulled away with a 5-0 run before the media timeout where they led 15-9
Defensively, Temple was stout and won the set with a kill by Steel Sinai.

SET 2 (Temple, Manhattan)

Junior Jaya Moore got the scoring stated early for the Owls and didn't stop as she total 9 kills throughout the game
Senior Lexi Yoza was dominant in set 2 as she totaled 12 assist to 4 different players.
In her first collegiate start, freshmen Kennedy Crayton made a huge play with a dig and kill that gave the Owls a 16-11 lead over Manhattan.
The set ended with a fierce spike from Khenedi Guest who lead both teams in total kills

SET 3 (Temple, Manhattan)

Moore once again got the scoring started for the Owls till Manhattan tied the game at 2-2
Guest was a standout offensively as she contributed 4 of her 11 kills in the 3rd set
Manhattan made a strong push to come back going on a 4 point run, but the Owls proved to be too much as All-American Conference player Christiana Green and Senior Olivia Hummel iced the game with assists from Yoza.
