Owls Make Strong Statement In Match Two Of Bearcat Classic

VESTAL N.Y. - Temple Volleyball (5-3) beat New Haven (1-6) Friday afternoon at the Events Center. The Owls overcame an early deficit and never looked back as they won the match in 3 sets. Daniella Gonzalez Murati came back from injury and played a huge role in the win recording 14 assists. The familiar names like Khenedi Guest and Olivia Hummel, led the team offensively with 8 kills each.
Set:1 (26-24)
Hummel once again set the tone for the Owls early as Temple took a 2-1 lead, but New Haven went on a 0-4 run bringing the score to 5-2
Strong defense from Temple led by Steel Sinai got the Owls back in the game as they closed the gap to within one at 10-11
Hummel continued her strong first set performance with a kill, that gave temple the lead at 15-14
The action remained tight the rest of the set, and New Haven was able to tie the game at 24. But back to back kills from Hummel and Guest helped temple pull out the set win at 26-24
Set:2 (25-21)
Guest led the way scoring early for the Owls as they took a commanding 5-2 lead at the start of the 2nd set
New Haven played tough defense, forcing errors on the Owls and came back to tie the game at 10
Freshmen Leah Hampson saw action in her second game this season, capitalizing on her playing time with a kill as Temple was able to extend their lead to three at 17-14
Strong defense from the Owls forced errors on New Haven, and Temple was able to pull out the set win at 25-21
Set:3 (25-16)
The match was back and forth to start, assist from Lexi Yoza and kills from Christiana Green tied the set early at 3.
The game remained deadlocked at seven, until back to back kills from Jaya Moore and Guest gave Temple a 9-7 lead
Yoza was everywhere this set, tallying an assist and ace to extend Temples lead to three at 14-11
Kennedy Crayton and Sinai extended the lead even further as temple continued to dominate the set at 19-12
New Haven did all they could to get back in the game, but the Owls were to much to handle and won the set 25-16
