Tomé Ties for Fifth at Ironwood Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Junior Mason Tomé posted a Temple career-best round of five-under par 67 and tied for fifth place individually at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic. The Owls closed the 54-hole event with a flourish, posting a five-under par round of 283 which ranked as the fourth-best team score of the final round.
How It Happened
•Tomé posted a near-flawless round with 13 pars and five birdies over a bogey-free 18 holes.
•The junior began his day on the par-4 10th, and made the turn at three-under par after carding three birdies over holes 13-16.
•Tomé continued his charge over the final nine holes of play, registering two more birdies on the par-5 4th and par-5 7th en route to his 67.
•The score was the best by any of the 90 competitors in the field, and his 13 birdies for the tournament tied him for sixth overall.
•Sophomore Nicholas Pisarski also had an impressive day for the Owls, putting together a three-under par 69 which included four birdies and a three-under par 33 on the front nine of the course.
•Senior Michael Vital was the third Temple player to card even par or better, posting an even-par 72 that saw him birdie two of his first four holes and close the round as the only Temple player to birdie the par-3 11th.
