Tournament Guide: Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. - After a week off from competition, the Temple University men's golf team returns to North Carolina for the Elon Phoenix Invitational, beginning Monday, Oct. 12. The 54-hole event will take place at the Alamance Country Club.

Last Time Out

Junior Mason Tomé posted a Temple career-best round of five-under par 67 and tied for fifth place individually at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic. The Owls closed the 54-hole event with a flourish, posting a five-under par round of 283 which ranked as the fourth-best team score of the final round.

Sophomore Nicholas Pisarski also had an impressive final day of the tournament for the Owls, putting together a three-under par 69 which included four birdies and a three-under par 33 on the front nine of the course.

Senior Michael Vital was the third Temple player to card even par or better on the final day of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, posting an even-par 72 that saw him birdie two of his first four holes and close the round as the only Temple player to birdie the par-3 11th.

Flying Back South

Temple returns to North Carolina for its second tournament in three weeks, after having played at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic in Greenville, N.C. on Sept. 28-29.

Vital to the Team

Seniors Michael Vital and Matthew Vital will both be in the starting lineup for the tournament at Elon, marking the first time the twins have been in the starting lineup for the Owls for an event.

Last Year's Event

The Owls shot an even-par round of 284 on the final day of last year's Elon Phoenix Invitational, including three players shooting par or better. Nicholas Pisarski was one of the three players, carding an even-par 71.
