Owls Win John MacDonald Temple Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - Led by junior Travis Robertson and sophomore Nicholas Pisarski, the Temple University men's golf team earned a come-from-behind team championship in its first event of the season, the John MacDonald Temple Invitational, on Tuesday.
Robertson and Pisarski tied for medalist honors through 54 holes, with Pisarski putting together back-to-back rounds of two-under par 68. The dynamic duo tied with Drexel's Harry Cohen for top honors at one-over par 211 for the tournament.
The team title is the first for the Owls since winning the Cornell/Temple Fall Invite at The 1912 Club in 2022.
How It Happened
• Trailing by five strokes heading into the final 18 holes of the event, the Owls remained in contention throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.
• Pisarski was the catalyst early, beginning his round with a birdie on the par-5 6th hole and moving to three-under par on his day when he birdied the 17th.
• Junior Mason Tomé also had a strong start to his round, registering par on his first 10 holes before a birdie on the 17th moved him to one-under par on his round.
• As a team, the Owls flirted with the top spot for most of the day and moved into first briefly past the halfway point of the round.
• Down the stretch, it was a two-team race between Temple and Delaware. Down to the final hole, Tome birdied his final hole to tie the team competition before a bogey by the final Delaware competitor put the Owls on top.
• Robertson closed with a one-over par round of 71, while Max Jackson was the fourth scorer for the Owls' A team at 74.
• The top individual finisher amongst other Temple competitors was senior Michael Vital, who closed with a two-over par 72 on the day and tied for 15th individually.
