• Started the first game of his career as a true freshman at Notre Dame
• Wrestled in high school that helped him with his tackling as a linebacker
Honors: 2016 - Defensive Production Player of the Week (Navy) ... Defensive Effort Player of the Week (UConn).
2016 (Senior): Entered second straight season as starting middle linebacker ... tied a single-game high with nine tackles vs. Army ... started first three games of the season and has seen action at linebacker every game so far ... recorded a career high 13 tackles, six solo, in the AAC Championship victory over Navy, leading all defensive players.
2015 (Junior): Started at middle linebacker for all but one game ... notched a sack of QB Christian Hackenberg that forced a fumble in the win over Penn State ... recorded a career-high nine tackles with a forced fumble at Cincinnati ... rushed four yards on a fake punt at USF ... currently third in conference and 22nd nationally in forced fumbles and 30th in the conference in tackles/game.
2014 (Sophomore): Was the backup MLB and also contributed on special teams ... was injured in week 8 at Houston and missed two games ... started in two games in place of LB Nate D. Smith.
2013 (Freshman): Only true freshman to start opening day for the Owls ... made that debut at Notre Dame on national TV ... one of only 3 Temple true freshmen (Jim Cooper, Jihaad Pretlow) to play in all 12 games ... although Nate D. Smith returned to start at MLB, Alwan continued to see time on defense and special teams ... notched his first career sack vs. UCF (QB Blake Bortles).
High School: Played for coach Gil Brooks at Camden Catholic HS … three-star prospect by Rivals.com … ranked the #23 player in the state of New Jersey … participated in the North-South Game.
