Dion Dacons, the Most Valuable Player of the 2006-07 Temple men[apos]s basketball team, returns to his alma mater this season as the program[apos]s Coordinator of Student Development/Manager position.
A four-year letterwinner with the Cherry and White, Dacons came into his own in his final season. The undersized (6[apos]6[quote]) post player led the Owls and ranked 12th in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 6.9 rebound average. The native of
Statesville, N.C. started all 30 games that season, averaging 7.1 points while leading the squad with a 54.4 field goal percentage.
Dacons, who scored more points as a senior (213) than in histhree previous seasons combined (110), also was the recipient of the 2007 Big 5 Sportsmanship Award as well as earning the Academic Award at the Temple men[apos]s basketball banquet. Following his senior year, he played professionally with Club
Malvin in Uruguay.
