Cappo served as the men’s soccer head coach at Chestnut Hill College from 2010-13. Cappo also served as O’Connor’s assistant coach with Philadelphia Liberty FC of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, helping the team earn its first playoff appearance in team history. He assisted O’Connor with all aspects of team management, and was in charge of technical and tactical training, scouting, player and match evaluation.
Cappo holds his ‘A’ License from the USSF, along with his Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA and National Youth License from the USYS. Cappo has coached both boys and girls at the youth level with Continental Football Club, Penn Fusion Soccer Academy, West Chester United Soccer Club, Arlington Soccer and EPYSA’s Olympic Development Program.
Prior to moving into collegiate coaching, Cappo started coaching at the high school level immediately following his own playing career. From 2004 until 2006, Cappo served as an assistant boy’s coach at Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School and Thomas A. Edison High School in Arlington, Virginia prior to moving back to the Philadelphia area. He then served an assistant boy’s coach at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr from 2006 until 2008, where he also taught mathematics for the past eight years.
Cappo was a four year starter at Catholic University from 2000-03. He was a two year captain and earned spots on the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Team in 2000 and 2001 and All-Conference Team in 2003. He played at William Penn Charter School where he was a three-year varsity starter, named to the Philadelphia All-City Soccer Team in 1998 and recently inducted into the Penn Charter Athletic Honor Society in November 2013.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education, Cappo is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education. He currently resides in Drexel Hill, Pa. with his wife Emily and four year old son Quinn.
