- Induction:
- 1983
- Class:
- 1934
Ernie Federoff was one of the finest distance runners ever to represent Temple. He held the Temple record in the mile run that stood for over 25 years, being clocked in 4:23 in 1934. He was the anchor man at the 1934 Penn Relays when Temple won the four mile relay, the first time the Owls had won a feature event at the prestigious competition. He was considered one of the nation's best mile runners during the middle thirties. He ran in various invitational races against standout runners like Glenn Cunningham. Following his graduation from Temple, he competed for several years as a member of the Millrose AA of New York and ran a 4:10 mile for that organization. He was a great team performer as a cross country runner on many national and metropolitan championship teams for Millrose. He coached cross-country and track at Frankford High and has been a respected official.Â
