Max Younger coached the gymnastics team for 30 years and many of his performers became standout coaches and officials. He began coaching at Temple in 1926 and produced 13 championship teams. He led the Owls to the 1949 NCAA championship. He presented the First Annual National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches Award. Born in Persia, Czechoslovakia, he came to United States in 1904. He was an outstanding gymnast and was able to work apparatus until his retirement in 1956. He was Professor of Health and Physical Education while gymnastics coach and died in 1962.
