Track & Field Delivers at the Sam Howell Invitational, Wins 4x400 Relay

PRINCETON, N.J. - Temple University's women's outdoor track and field team put up a strong performance at the Sam Howell Invitational. The 4x400m Relay team of Laila Cottom, Dicia Watkins, Grace Hickman, and Mariah Jameson took home first place after finishing with a time of 3:55.25.

Results

In the pole vault, Kamryn Ohm finished eighth after clearing the bar at 3.70m (12'-1.5").
Inara Shell placed fifth out of 15 athletes in the long jump after reaching a distance of 5.66m (18'-7").
In the 400m dash, Mariah Jameson set a new personal record with a time of 55.74 earning her third place out of 29 competitors. Grace Hickman placed seventh with a time of 57.59. Maliah Powell came across the line in 1:02.13.
Deja Scott placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.66m (38'-3.75").
Lila Ziegler set a new personal record in the 100m dash with a time of 12.04 putting her in 10th out of 30 athletes. Kenya Merritt finished with a time of 12.34 which marked a new personal record for the freshman. Janae Pettaway rounded out the group for the Owls with a time of 13.01.
Temple had six athletes compete in the 800m event. Laila Cottom finished in seventh out of 39 competitors with a time of 2:14.55, marking a new personal record for the junior. Rian Johnson came across the line with a time of 2:17.49. Freshman Dagny Shiffler set a new personal record with a time of 2:22.12. Maya Gomes ended with a time of 2:23.98 and placing right behind her was Emilie Creighton with a time of 2:24.79. Jayla Green concluded the race with a time of 2:32.54.
Watkins finished seventh out of 15th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.51.
Ziegler set a new personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.42 placing her in sixth out of 37th. Jameson came in eighth with a time of 24.48. Merritt set a new personal record after finishing in 25.30.
Running in the 1500m was Johnson (4:54.78), Shiffler (5:05.16), and Creighton (5:13.56).
Amelia Sabatino competed in the 5000m unseeded race and ended with a time of 19:03.46.
The final event of the meet was the 5000m seeded race in which Rose Tuomisto finished with a time of 17:47.00.
