Stan Wudyka

The only Temple trackman to ever make the United States Olympic team, Stan Wudyka was one of America's 10,000-meter runners at the Berlin Games in 1936. He earned numerous medals while competing for Temple where he held the two mile run record for over 30 years. He was outstanding in the two-mile event, losing only once during his career at Temple. Named the school's "Outstanding Athlete" in 1935, he was the Tri-State and Middle Atlantic States two mile champion. In 1933 he became the first Temple runner to win the 5,000 meter Junior National Championship at the Chicago World's Fair. Stan came to Temple from Northeast High School where he won the Philadelphia One-Mile run and Cross Country championships. He retired recently from the Philadelphia Board of Education.
