Temple Owls Named As A-10 Player And Rookie Of The Week

Junior, Alma Kovaci was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week while
freshman Solana Lee was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
Kovaci, an outside hitter for the Owls posted three straight
double-doubles last week while leading the Owls to a 3-0 record in
Atlantic 10 matches. In Temple's 3-0 sweep against LaSalle on Wednesday,
she recorded 19 kills and 13 digs. On Friday, she tallied 11 kills in 25
attempts with only three errors in addition to 13 digs and two aces
against Fordham. On Saturday, she helped the team to a 3-1 win against
Duquesne where she tallied 21 kills and 13 digs. For the week she
boasted a .358 hitting percentage and leads the team in kills (279) and
digs (232). This is Kovaci's second citation as Player of the Week.
Lee, a setter from Santa Barbara, Calif. posted 89 assists for the
Owls. On Wednesday versus LaSalle, Lee tallied 41 assists and served
four aces. In addition, in Friday's match against the Rams she recorded
20 assists with six digs and one service ace. In action against Duquesne
on Saturday, she compiled 28 assists, six digs, two blocks and one ace
as Temple won the match, 3-1.
The Owls will play against conference rival Virginia Tech at
McGonigle Hall on Friday, October 29 at 6:30p.m.
