KINGSTON, R.I. (October 9) -- Junior Alma Kovaci (Tirane, Albania) had 30 kills to lead
Temple past Rhode Island, 3-1, in an Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball
match tonight in Keaney Gymnasium.
The loss snaps the Rams' (10-4, 6-1 Atlantic 10) nine-game win streak. The
Owls (10-4, 5-1 Atlantic 10) move within a half-game of first-place Rhode
Island. Temple has beaten the Rams six consecutive matches dating back to
1996.
Junior Teresa Schumacher (Oceanside, Calif.) came off the Temple bench to
record 45 assists and nine digs. Senior Karla Jones (Tampa Bay, Fla.)
chipped in with 13 digs and 11 kills for the victors.
Freshman Julia Schlecht (Sundern, Germany) had 54 assists and 10 digs for
Rhode Island, while senior Christie Wilson (Moreno Valley, Calif.) had 21
kills and six digs.
