Volleyball's Kovaci and Stone Named Atlantic 10 Player and Rookie of the Week

Philadelphia, Pa. (November 16) -- Junior Alma Kovaci was named this week's Atlantic 10 Player of the Week while freshman Sara Stone was named

the A-10 Rookie of the Week.

Kovaci, an outside hitter for the Owls helped the team improve its record to 20-5 with wins over Villanova (3-1) on Wednesday,

Rhode Island, (3-1) on Friday and Massachusetts (3-1) on Saturday. The two conference wins clinched an A-10 Championship berth

for the Owls.

The Tirane, Albania native posted double-doubles in all three games and recorded 75 digs and 66 kills in 152 swings for a .322 hitting

percentage. She landed her highest output of the week against Rhode Island where she landed 31 kills and 31 digs. This is Kovaci's

fourth Player of the Week honor.

Stone, also contributed to the teams wins last weekend adding 34 kills, 25 digs and six assists while playing in 10 of 11 games. She

also recorded a double-double with 20 kills and 13 digs against the University of Rhode Island. This is the Mishawaka, Indiana native's

first Rookie of the Week citation.

Temple is ranked second in the NCAA Division One District I rankings, just second to Notre Dame (18-6; 11-0). The Owls will

compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament on Friday, November 26 at McGonigle Hall.
