Owls Win Third Straight Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Championship Title

Philadelphia, Pa. (November 27) -- The top-seeded Owls Volleyball team, who completed the
regular season with a 23-5 record, defeated No. 2 seed Rhode Island,
17-15, 15-12, 10-15, 15-11, in the final match of the Bell Atlantic
Atlantic 10 Championship today at
McGonigle Hall. The Owls improve to 25-5 this season and earn an
automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Alma Kovaci, the Tournament Most Valuable Player, nailed 22 kills, 20
digs, two solo blocks and added 20 digs in the Owls' winning effort.
Maria Vutskova, who joined Kovaci on the All-Tournament Team, added 20
kills and 16 digs. Enkeleida Shkoza also tallied 24 kills and seven digs
while setter Solana Lee landed 66 assists, 10 digs and three service
aces.
Rhode Island (19-9) had an impressive number of blocks totalling 19.5.
All-Tournament selection, Christine Wilson compiled a match-high, 30
kills, six digs and four solo blocks. Kelsey Casey registered 16 kills,
16 digs and three solo blocks. All-Tournament Team selection Julia
Schlecht added seven kills, 20 digs and three block assists.
