French Volleyball Club Team Sign Temple Graduate Tamu Cooper

Philadelphia (August 20, 1999) -- Tamu Cooper, a 1998 Temple graduate from New Haven, Connecticut, has signed a ten month contract to play professional volleyball for the division one French Club Wattingnies in Wattingnies, France.
Cooper, a 6-1 middle blocker, was a solid AVCA All-American candidate during her senior year and was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference team her sophomore, junior and senior years. After leading the Conference in hitting percentage for three straight years (.348 in 1997; .404 in 1996; .391 in 1995). She also led the team her senior year with 102 errors in 748 total attacks.
Over her four year varsity career, Cooper has been named to the KAEPA/AVCA All District team and was the Atlantic 10 player of the week seven times (1997 season: 11/16, 10/6; 1996 season: 9/2, 11/4, 11/11; 1995 season: 10/9; 1994 season: 10/23) and rookie of the week one time (1994:10/23). Playing under the direction of Head Coach Bob Bertucci, she paced her team to its first ever NCAA first round appearance and the first Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament championship in 1997. Tamu is intimidating both offensively and defensively, Bertucci said. She is a quiet leader committed to giving 100 percent at all times.
