Volleyball Topples Rutgers; Win Streak Now at Nine

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team raised its match record to 12-6 with a non-conference win over Rutgers, three games to one. The game scores were 5-15, 17-15, 15-10 and 15-13 for the three time defending Atlantic 10 champions over the visitors from the BIG EAST. It was just the fourth loss of the season for the Scarlet Knights (17-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) while the Owls notched their ninth straight win (8-0 Atlantic 10).
Senior Brandy Best led the Owls' attack with 17 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Yamit Haba recorded yet another double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs and senior All-Americ candidate Alma Kovaci added 13 kills and nine digs. Solana Lee led Temple in assists with 36.
Rutgers was paced by Megan Edwards (14 kills, eight digs) and Shayla Bush (13 kills, eight digs) with Pualani Tuyay setting things up (47 assists).
Next up for the Owls, a home match against Duquesne (Friday, October 20) at 7:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall.
