Volleyball Beats Duquesne, Win Streak Moves to 10

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team raised its match record to 13-6 and remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play with a home victory over Duquesne, three games to one. The game scores were 13-15, 15-2, 15-8 and 15-8 for the Owls who have now won ten matches in a row and are a perfect 9-0 in the conference.
The home crowd at McGonigle Hall watched the Owls drop the first game for the second straight match only to come storming back to win the final three games. Temple was led once again by senior All-America candidate Alma Kovaci who posted a match-high 17 kills and 27 digs. Senior Brandy Best (15 kills, nine digs), junior Christine Happel (12 kills, 11 blocks) and sophomore Sara Stone (nine kills, 11 digs) were also key contributors for the Owls. Senior Teresa Schumacher logged most of the time at the setter position and recorded 41 assists for the match.
Leading the way for Duquesne were Sarah Morrow (11 kills, five digs), Andrea St. Bernard (11 kills, one dig) and Sherene Lemonias (10 kills, 20 digs). Sarah Brown added 47 assists for the visitors.
Next up for the Owls, an Ohio road trip where they will face Atlantic 10 Conference foes Xavier (Friday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m.) and Dayton (Saturday, October 28 at 4:00 p.m.)
