Volleyball Sweeps Fordham to End Homestand

PHILADELPHIA - Temple raised its match record to 9-6 with a victory over Fordham, three games to none. The game scores were 15-12, 15-12 and 15-13 for the Owls who have just completed a perfect four-game homestand and are now 6-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
The Temple attack was led by a pair of players from Israel, senior Maria Vutskova and freshman Yamit Haba, each of whom posted a double-double. Vutskova blasted 19 kills and 12 digs while Haba added 15 kills and 12 digs. Setting things up for the Owls was the "California Connection" with senior Teresa Schumacher, from Oceanside, California, passing out 22 assists and sophomore Solana Lee, from Santa Barbara, California dishing out 24 assists.
Fordham, who led Temple late in game three, outblocked the Owls nine to four but the home team refused to surrender a game. The Rams were led by Kelly Hierlmeier with 11 kills and 11 digs. Setter Kristyn Daly added 27 assists for the visitors.
Next up for Temple, road matches against Massachusetts (Friday, October 13) and Rhode Island (Saturday, October 14).
