PHILADELPHIA - Temple's match record dropped to 18-9, 13-3 in the Atlantic 10 with a home loss to Massachusetts three games to two. The game scores were 15-2, 12-15, 15-12, 14-16 and 12-15 as the Owls saw their five game winning streak snapped and suffered only their second home loss in the final match of the season to be played at McGonigle Hall.

It was a tough way to celebrate Senior Day for the Owls who saw their three senior outside hitters post double figure kill numbers set up mainly by their senior setter. Senior All-America candidate Alma Kovaci notched a match-high 29 kills and 17 digs. Fellow seniors Maria Vutskova (17 kills, 9 digs) and Brandy Best (14 kills, 12 digs) also performed well in defeat. Freshman Margaret Majewska (10 kills, 12 digs) was the only underclassman to record double-figure kills totals. Setting things up for the Owls was senior Teresa Schumacher who dished out a match-high 61 assists.

The Minutewomen were led by Lymarie Llovet (26 kills, 9 digs) and Rebecca Hasson (15 kills, 9 digs) with setter Jenni Drennan passing out 60 assists. Massachusetts out hit Temple .215 to .194 and out blocked the Owls 17-12.

Temple next plays a road match at Villanova (Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m.) before heading to the Atlantic 10 Championships (November 17-18) hosted by the University of Dayton.
