Volleyball Sweeps 'Nova In Final Match Before Atlantic 10 Championship

VILLANOVA, PA - In their final match before this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship, the Temple volleyball team improved its match record to 19-9, 13-3 in the conference with a road win over Villanova, three games to none Tuesday night. The game scores were 15-9, 15-11, 15-5 for the Owls who now head to Dayton as the secodn seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Leading the way for Temple was senior All-America candidate and reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Alma Kovaci with 20 kills and 14 digs. Kovaci also hit an impressive .472 for the match. Senior setter Teresa Schumacher passed out 35 assists for Owls in the victory.
Breen Eddinger was the top performer for Villanova with nine kills and five digs. Setter Jennifer Edwards dished out 17 assists for the Wildcats.
The Owls now travel to Dayton for the Atlantic 10 Championship where they are the number two seed and will face third seeded Xavier - game time is 3:30 p.m.
