Results from 17th Annual Bucknell Invitational

Lewisburg, Pa. (Dec. 4, 2000) - Temple's men's and women's track teams

participated in the 17th annual Bucknell Invitational this past weekend.

Law student Robert Lythgoe (Lester, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) led the way

for the Owls with a first place finish in the 1000M (2:36.21). He also

turned in a second place finish in the mile with a time of 4:19.07.

Sophomore Tracey Champion (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic) finished

sixth in the 55M hurdles with a time of 7.93. Sophomore Robert

Leite-Young (York, Pa./Central York) finished seventh in the long jump

(21'9 3/4"). The Owls' freshman Kevin Kelley (Wallingford, Pa./Strath

Haven) leaped to a ninth place finish in the pole vault (13'3"). In the

500M Heat 1, freshman Bryant Adams (Glenn Dale, Md./Central) finished

fifth. Freshman Justin Plato (Silver Spring, Md./John F. Kennedy)

finished seventh in the 800M Section 2 (2:08.29). In the 400M Heat 4,

freshman Jeffrey Hagues (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) placed fourth

(56.97). Freshmen Gregory Vaughan (Largo, Md./Suitland) and junior Otis

Hudson (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham) finished fourth and fifth

respectively in the 200M Heat 1 (24.58, 23.65). Champion and freshman

Dalton Gooding (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) finished third and fourth

respectively in the 200M Heat 2 (24.35, 25.04). Temple's 4x400 Relay

team placed fourth in Heat 1 with a time of 3:30.72.

For the women, sophomore Varinka Barbini (Mt. Olive, N.J./Mt. Olive)

finished first in the 1000M Final with a time of 3:08.07. In the

consolation final of the 55M Hurdles, sophomore Raina Marshall

(Mitchellville, Md./Largo) placed third (9.01). Sophomore Christine

Leahy (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) finished sixth in the mile

with a time of 6:06.11. In the 500M Heat 1, junior Chanel Dale (Chester,

Pa./Chester) finished fourth with a time of 1:19.08. In Heat 2, freshman

Ruby Amanze (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) and junior Patricia Swiggett

(Chester, Pa./Chester) finished second and fourth respectively (1:18.99,

1:20.97). Senior Afia Brown (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) and sophomore Naomi

Beverly (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) finished fifth and seventh respectively

in the 55M Dash final (7.18, 7.28). In the 800M Section 1, freshman

Nicky Porter (Hartford, Conn./Farmington) finished sixth (2:27.63).

Senior Kasha Benson Craig (Sechenville, N.J./Highland Regional) finished

third in the 400M Heat 1 (1:01.21). In Heat 5, sophomore Marirose Roach

(Danielson, Conn./Killingly) finished first (1:00.67). Beverly and

sophomore Angela Gblah (Philadelphia, Pa./West Philadelphia) finished

19th and 26th respectively in the long jump (15'8", 14'11 1/4"). In Heat

2 of the 200M, sophomore Edith Lewis (New Castle, Del./William Penn) and

freshman Samantha Porter (Charlotte, N.C./Independence) finished second

and fourth respectively (26.18, 26.75). In Heat 3, freshman Annsha

Richards (Philadelphia, Pa./Girls' High) finished fourth (29.65).

Sophomore Carla Miles (Landover Hills, Md./Parkdale) placed first in

Heat 9 (27.75). Sophomore Dionna Miller (Philadelphia, Pa./Central)

placed 16th in the final of the triple jump (31'9 1/2"). The Owls' 4x800

relay team finished first in the final with a time of 9:56.97. The 4x400

team finished second with a time of 4:00.83.

The Owls are next in action on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Princeton.
