Matt Kacyon Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Track & Field Team

PHILADELPHIA - Matt Kacyon is one of 10 student-athletes named to the 2014 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Track & Field Team. Kacyon, a rising senior at Temple, has a 3.64 grade-point-average as a film and media arts major.
Christopher Stadler of Haverford College was named the Men's Track and Field Academic All-Area Performer of the Year. In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, a student-athlete must be in his second year at his current institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better. The team was selected by the 28 Philadelphia-area sports information directors.

Kacyon recently represented Temple for a second year in a row at the NCAA East Region Preliminary, after taking third place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2014 IC4A Championships. He took second place in that same event at the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championships, where he also placed 4th in the 5,000 meter run. Kacyon earned a total of six top-five finishes at conference championships for Temple men's track & field in his career. He holds the school record for the indoor 5,000 meter run.
Off the track, Kacyon is a two-time Temple President's Honor Roll recipient, and was named to the 2013 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
