Temple Fencing Wins 3-1 in Vassar Invitational

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Temple Women's Fencing won 3-1 this past weekend at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The
Owls beat Hollins 18-9, FDU 19-9 and Stevens 19-9 but were beat by host, Vassar in a close match of 13-14.
The match-up against Hollins proved to be an easy win to all three squads. The epee squad won 7-2, foil 6-3 and sabre 5-4. The
foil (6-3) and epee (9-0) squad outscored the Fairleigh-Dickinson Devils but the sabre squad lost 3-6. The Owls topped off Steven's
with all three squads winning each match (8-1, epee, 5-4 foil, 6-3 sabre). In a final round against Vassar, Temple came up short with
the foil squad winning the only match, 5-4. Sabre and epee were both outscored 4-5.
Temple will compete on Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. in McGonigle Hall. They will host UPenn, John's Hopkins,
Haverford and Harvard.
