6.24.26 | Women's Fencing
Temple fencing assistant coach and alumna Tasia Ford has been promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season, as announced by the program. Ford enters her seventh year leading the Owls' Sabre squad and will take on an expanded leadership role as she continues to help guide the program's sustained success.Â
A key figure on the coaching staff, Ford has earned national recognition as a U.S. Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Assistant Coach of the Year finalist in four seasons (2020-21, 2021-22, 2023-24, 2025-26). She has also played an integral role in Temple's continued dominance, contributing to six NIWFA Team Championships and helping extend the program's streak to 30 consecutive titles.Â
"I am extremely grateful to Coach Salmon and Athletics Director, Arthur Johnson, for this acknowledgment," Ford said. "Temple is truly a home to me, and I would not be who I am without the experiences it has provided. I am proud to continue representing this program and will stay motivated in pushing myself and this team towards further greatness."Â
Ford began fencing at a young age and advanced to compete on both the national and international stage, including appearances at Cadet and Junior World Cups where she recorded multiple podium finishes. Following her collegiate career, she gained coaching experience at Delaware Valley Fencers Club before returning to North Broad, where she continues to support the development of student-athletes and advocate for the growth and representation of women in athletics.Â
Head coach Jennifer Salmon also sang Ford's praises after four seasons alongside her:Â
"This is a much-deserved recognition of the consummate excellence Coach Ford brings to our program," Salmon shared. "First as a standout athlete and team captain and for the past 6 seasons as Assistant Coach, she's been unwavering in her dedication to elevate every one of our fencers as students, athletes, community members and leaders. She is an outstanding coach, mentor, and leader. I am grateful to have her as my colleague and proud to see her elevated to the title of Associate Head Coach."Â
