Temple Drops Three Games to Duke Over the Weekend

Durham, N.C.(Feb. 20) - The Temple baseball team traveled to Duke University over the weekend and dropped three games to the Blue Devils. The Owls, playing in their first games of the season, dropped a double header to Duke (11-2 and 8-4) on Saturday and a single game (7-3) on Sunday.
In Saturday's game the Owls were led by Bob Filler. The junior center fielder went 2-for-4 in game one and 2-for-3 with three RBIs in game two. Temple's utility player Patrick Murphy also had a solid game going 2-for-3 in game one and 1-for-3 in game two.
In Sunday's game, the Owls were sparked by the top of their line up. Temple's first three batters, Cap Poklemba, Jim Tully and Keith Ramsey, combined to go 6-for 13 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
The losses drop the Owls to 0-3 on the season. Temple will next travel to California on Mar. 4 to face Cal Poly on Mar. 4 and 5 and to participate in the Pepsi-Johnny Quik Classic hosted by Fresno State.
