AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Katie Teft (Grand Rapids, Mich.) tied the UMass all-time mark on balance beam with a 9.925 in the University of Massachusetts' 193.275-187.925 victory over Temple in Boyden Gymnasium. The Minutewomen's team score is a season-high for UMass, which improves to 6-7 this season with the win.
The Minutewomen also scored a team season-high of 49.075 on beam. Junior Mary Moore (Coral Springs, Fla.) placed second in the event with a 9.850, while freshman Jen Gendron (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored a career-high 9.800 to finish third. Gendron's mark ties the tenth-best all-time mark in school history. Freshman Megan Donoghue (Tewksbury, Mass.) also registered a career-high on beam with a 9.600.
Gendron posted her second career-high on the afternoon with a 9.725 on vault to win the event. Teft placed second with a 9.700, while Temple's Andrea McGary finished third with a 9.650. Teft picked up her second first-place finish on uneven bars with a 9.850. Moore came in second with a 9.700, while junior Jobi Goldberg (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished third with a mark of 9.450.
Gendron won the final event on floor with a 9.850. Senior Mandy Mosby (Lilburn, Ga.) and Donoghue tied for second with a 9.800. Temple's Maggie Tolcrico finished fourth with a 9.775 in the event.
Teft won the all-around with a mark of 39.175, which ties her career-high in the event.
